Eurozone Logic Or Not?
Reports about the looming financial crisis in the eurozone have argued that staying out of the eurozone gave the UK freedom of action, and helped us avoid the disasters now unfolding in Greece and which may spread to Spain , Portugal , perhaps Ireland , and elsewhere in the foreseeable future.
Today’s Sunday Times reports that Mandelson confirmed that logic during a visit to Germany last week…we Brits were better off and had more freedom of financial control, because we stayed out of the euro. So that’s all right then. Mandelson has decided.
Pity he’s also missed the unavoidable conclusion.
If that is the case, then surely it follows that being outside the EU altogether would benefit the UK altogether, for exactly the same reason.
