Are you remembering what I'm remembering? - Part 3

Are you remembering what I'm remembering?

This is the first of our non-partisan, issue focused posts in our 'Are you remembering what I'm remembering?' series. So....

Are you remembering what I'm remembering?

At 6.38pm on Wednesday 5th March 2008, a total of 311 MPs voted AGAINST allowing us a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. The proposal for a referendum was tabled by the Conservatives.

Are you remembering what I'm remembering?

These 311 MPs prevented you having any say whatsoever in whether the New Labour Government - complete with it's unelected Prime Minister - would be allowed to sign away the national sovereignty; the national sovereignty that belongs to we, the people and which we entrusted into their care.

Are you remembering what I'm remembering?

I'm remembering how 311 MPs breached the trust we gave them to protect our sovereignty. I'm remembering that they did so contrary to their own party manifestos. Will you believe what these 311 MPs say in their manifestos and campaign literature this time?

Are you remembering what I'm remembering?

I'm remembering that the Bill of Rights - one of the written documents of our NATIONAL constitution which has served these green and pleasant lands for 322 years - states explicitly: "...no foreign prince, person, prelate, state or potentate hath or ought to have any jurisdiction, power, superiority, pre-eminence or authority, ecclesiastical or spiritual, within this realm."

So, it is quite clear that the signing of the Lisbon Treaty was in breach of what is set out in the Bill of Rights.

Are you remembering what I'm remembering?

Only, I'm remembering the exact names of all 311 MPs who said that YOU were not allowed a say on the surrender of our national sovereignty to Brussels.

Are you remembering what I'm remembering?

Only, I'm remembering exactly which political parties they represent, too.

And here's what I remember - these are the 311 MPs who stopped you having your say. No matter which party they represent, if they're standing again, start remembering what I'm remembering and help others remember, too.

Tell all of the people you know that these are the 311 who were complicit in the surrender of British national sovereignty to Brussels and the European Empire, who went against their party's election manifesto and who wouldn't even let YOU have a say:

Are those 311 MPs remembering their decision to deny us a say on our sovereignty like we're remembering it now?

Now, apart from those three Conservative MPs shamed above, thank you to the Conservatives for trying.

We'd imagine there are a lot of MPs - especially in the Labour Party - who are a bit uncomfortable with this list. It's not my fault I'm remembering this - YOU traipsed through the lobby!

Now, you might argue that you were whipped through. Sorry, but you are accountable to your constituents, not to party whips.

And now your constituents are aided in remembering what I'm remembering.

We haven't mentioned the Liberal Democrats yet. Promised you a referendum, and most of them abstained. Had those Liberal Democrats who abstained voted to give you the referendum that you were promised, then there were sufficient Labour rebels and others to have won the vote in Parliament.

Are they all remembering what we're now all remembering?

And just to get the political partisanship totally out of this issue - how nervous are you about the backlash from traditional Conservative supporters, 'Cast Iron Call Me Dave' Cameron?

Only, if the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph messageboards are anything to go by, a lot of your voters are not happy with you on the Europe question...

You gave us a cast iron guarantee. Are you remembering what I'm remembering on that one? A lot of angry traditional Conservative voters appear to be. Oops!

-

We do have a GOOD MP list too - these are the 42 MPs (29 Labour and 13 Lib Dem) who defied their party whips and voted with the Conservatives on a referendum. They showed that they could put their promises to their constituents before party politics. That they were brave enough to put their vows to the country ahead of any political ideaology. That they had honour.

So, we would like to say thank you to those 42 and to the 20 others - nationalists and independents - who supported a referendum. They are:

Annette Brooke (Lib Dem) - thank you!
Colin Burgon (Labour) - thank you!
Gregory Campbell (DUP) - thank you!
