The EDL is being smeared like the tea party activists in the States. The media is corrupt. UPDATE: Here's an on-scene report from UK David: Nothing at all mentioned about this demo on Sky News or the BBC that I could see tonight even though they had crews there filming this and some of the EDL were asked to give interviews. So who exactly is being informed, the USA? It seems its taboo to inform the rest of the English of whats been going on in their own land. Exclusive Photos from UK Atlas reader Sir Bluff: EDL was in protest against the government allowing a huge mosque to be built; Dudley council had previously refused. Thousands turn out in solidarity with the English Defence League. All races, all creeds, all colors came to protest the encroaching sharia and the building of a fortress, a mega-mosque, and were met with the hostile and violent fascists of the ironically self identified "Unite Against Fascism." Orwellian. The EDL was peaceful, as is their manifesto. But the thugs and the sharia advocates engage in a low-grade civil war action, turning the demonstration into a violent melee. Seven were arrested. It's the same every time. Thousands of fascist agitators descended upon a city centre protest organized by the patriotic English Defense League (EDL). The UAF -- Unite AgainstFascism -- members got violent, and two officers were injured following ugly clashes: one fractured a finger, the other was bitten by a police dog. A police helicopter was also dispatched to assist the officers on the ground. There was a total of 7 arrests. Seven people have been arrested as the English Defence League and Unite Against Fascism hold rallies in a Black Country town. The two groups organised demonstrations in Dudley, West Midlands, which resulted in the market closing and shops being boarded up. There were "brief outbreaks of disorder" with barriers knocked over during the afternoon, police said. About 2,000 people took part in the demonstrations. Five people were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. Two more people were arrested on Friday evening on suspicion of causing damage to a wall beneath a bridge in the town. I will update as the day goes on. UPDATE: The BBC has updated the story above. Here is the latest version: A group of EDL supporters broke away as they were being taken back to their coaches but were "quickly contained". About 2,000 people took part in the demonstrations. Five people were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. Two more people were arrested on Friday evening on suspicion of causing damage to a wall beneath a bridge in the town, while another two were arrested for public order offences. And al-Reuters says much the same thing: Scuffles broke out with police when EDL supporters broke down wire fences penning them in and ran through nearby streets. Police said they were able to prevent them reaching the UAF rally. Officers arrested five people for possessing offensive weapons, two for public order offences and two for criminal damage. Both these reports make it likely that the people who were arrested were UAF, not EDL. Both the BBC and al-Reuters would love to highlight news that makes the EDL look bad -- and look how quick they are in these reports to say that "EDL supporters broke away as they were being taken back to their coaches" and "EDL supporters broke down wire fences." But then when it comes to writing about the arrests of the people who had weapons and caused criminal damage, the ones being arrested are identified only as "people." That means the people who were arrested were UAF members. If they were EDL, you can be sure both the BBC and Reuters would have happily said so, and even put it in their headlines. UPDATE: The EDL turnout was reported to be well over 2,000. I hear a couple of EDL members broke free of the pen. It's all the media is talking about. According to Islam, all jihad is defensive, is it not? Anything or anyone not Muslim is an insult, a humiliation, an affront to Islam. Amnesty International's Secretary-General Claudio Cordone is defending jihad when it occurs in "self-defence." The issue arose after Amesty International suspended Gita Sahgal, one of its senior officials in London, for expressing the view that Amnesty's collaboration with former Guantanamo Bay detainee Moazzem Begg "fundamentally damages" the group's reputation. Sahgal pointed out that "to be appearing on platforms with Britain's most famous supporter of the Taliban, whom we treat as a human rights defender, is a gross error of judgment." (And worse, I would have thought) Begg isn't just Britain's most famous Taliban supporter. According to Steve Emerson and Tom Joscelyn, he is also a friend and supporter of Anwar al-Awlaki, imam to some of the 9/11 hijackers, and an inspiration to both the Christmas Day bomber and the Fort Hood mass-murderer.(Paul Mirengoff here) Of course, those of us on watch saw this coming. How else to justify support for jihad? We are void of morality and courage. Obama's Muslim adviser, Dalia Mogahed, said, "Many have claimed that terrorists have 'hijacked Islam'. I disagree. I think Islam is safe and thriving in the lives of Muslims around the world. What the terrorists have been allowed to take over are Muslim grievances." Hence, defensive jihad. Hitlers Mein Kampf ('My Struggle') was defensive jihad too (according to the nazis.) Amnesty International defends "defensive jihad" Former Gitmo detainee Moazzam Begg is a committed jihadist and unabashed supporter of the Taliban. (See this Weekly Standard essayby Tom Joscelyn, which collects other Begg links.) In the fashion of CAIR — a creation of the Muslim Brotherhood formed to support its causes, such as Hamas, in the camouflage of a "civil rights" organization — Begg shrewdly realized he could win fawning admirers and allies on the Left by posing as a human rights activist. So he formed a group in Britain, Cageprisoners, which claims to be a civil rights organization whle promoting the Islamist agenda — and aligning with such other anti-American jihadist terrorists as would-be Christmas bomber Umar Abdulmutallab and Anwar al-Awlaki (an imam to some of the 9/11 hijackers and an inspiration to both Abdulmutallab and Fort Hood mass-murderer Nidal Hasan). As Tom details, the disconnect between terror- and sharia-promotion, on the one hand, and civil rights, on the other, has weighed heavily on some authentic civil rights activists. After complaining for a couple of years to no avail about Amnesty International's support for Begg, Gita Sahgal (head of AI's "gender unit") finally went public, pointing out that “to be appearing on platforms with Britain’s most famous supporter of the Taliban, whom we treat as a human rights defender, is a gross error of judgment.” For her trouble, Sahgal was reprimanded by AI and ultimately suspended. AI's treatment of Sahgal prompted a "Global Petition" by some international human rights supporters, protesting AI's action (in conjunction with all the usual grousing about the evils of the United States). In response to the petition, AI Secretary-General Claudio Cordone has issued a letter in vigorous defense of AI's collaboration with Begg and Cageprisoners. Steve Emerson's Investigative Project on Terrorism has the story, here. In the letter, Cordone states AI's position outright: advocacy of "jihad in self defence" is not antithetical to human rights. That Islamists reserve unto themselves the right to determine when Islam is, as they put it, "under siege," and when, therefore, forcible jihad is justified, is plainly of no concern — only actions America's self-defense are worthy of condemnation. This has long been obvious when it comes to such Leftist bastions as AI and Human Rights Watch. AI has now made the obvious explicit. The EDL were driven into a huge metal cage with high fences all around and kept tightly packed in for over two hours. They were told byPolice officers ''you wanted this demo so now you can stay in there!'' I have been told by a very good friend present, it was mayhem, claustrophobic and people thought they were going to get trampled on once a surge of anger started and pleas for release as many by this time wanted to go home, were ignored by the Police. The UAF and Muslims who were were running freely on the streets, one stabbed an EDL marshall, another had a broken bottle put into his neck by a Muslim yob whilst the Police did nothing!
Let's hear about the weapons arrest.Sunday, April 04, 2010
PARADIGM SHIFTING: AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL DEFENDS "DEFENSIVE JIHAD"
