'New' Barak Plan Divides Jerusalem

Reported: 12:42 PM - Aug/01/10

Defense Minister Ehud Barak has presented a new plan to resolve Middle East conflict. According to the plan, Jerusalem would be divided, a solution would be found for the fate of the descendants of Arabs who fled Israel in 1948, and a further disengagement from much of Judea and Samaria would take place.

The plan was presented at a closed meeting of the Kibbutz lobby and Geneva Initiative last week, witnesses said. Barak told the group that “isolated settlements must be dealt with and their residents moved back to Israel proper or to the settlement blocs, using a compensation program. Within four years we will be able to find appropriate accommodations for them,” he said.
