1. WikiLeaks' Julian Assange To Fight Molestation Charge

Lawyers for Julian Assange, founder of the whistle-blowing website Wikileaks, are set to meet with prosecutors in Sweden to press for molestation charges against their client to be dropped. Assange said his legal team would meet with Swedish authorities on Monday, three days after officials issued a warrant for his arrest on rape charges. The warrant and the rape charged were dropped on Saturday, but authorities have yet to decide whether to pursue separate molestation charges. Assange, in an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera English, said the accusations are part of a smear campaign to discredit his whistleblowing website. He said that he had been forewarned by Australian intelligence on August 11 to expect a campaign against him, though it was unclear who was behind it."It is clearly a smear campaign ... the only question is who was involved. We can have some suspicions about who would benefit, but without direct evidence I would not be will ing to make a direct allegation," Assange said. Watch the video published on One Click. One Click Note: Precisely as Julian Assange predicted, this story has nicely deflected public attention away from the Afghan War Diaries and the leaking process so successfully deployed by WikiLeaks. We urge our readers to keep their eye on what is most important - the public revelation of the atrocities being done in our collective name in Afghanistan without our consent.

Parents' Child Abuse Nightmare In UK Family Courts - Watch BBC Panorama Tonight

A couple suspected of hurting their three-month-old son and who spent nearly two years fighting to clear their names, have won the right to tell the full story of what happened to them after a landmark legal ruling. It is every parent's nightmare. Your child is badly hurt and you are accused of doing it. But that nightmare became a reality for first-time parents Jake and Victoria Ward, from Cambridgeshire. The local authority Cambridgeshire County Council put William on the Child Protection Register when neither parent could explain how the injury occurred. The Wards were suspected of abusing their son and when Cambridgeshire County Council applied for a care order, this signalled that their case would be heard in the closed world of the family courts. Thousands of children have their futures decided in the family courts every year and because of strict rules on what can be reported, often little is revealed about what happens once the court doors are clo sed. Three years after the Ward case, reporters are now allowed into family courts. And in the final week of the last Parliament, a bill was passed which rubber stamps the Ward ruling that paid expert witnesses can be identified. WATCH Panorama: Please Don't Take Our Child, BBC One, Monday 23 August at 2030 BST and then available in the UK on BBC iPlayer.

Swine Flu Review - The Case For Reforming U.S. Emergency Health Laws

Epidemics and Emergencies can be declared when they do not exist. Untested, fast-track, experimental vaccines can be mandated without exemptions in a false emergency. True totals for pandemic-disease-deaths and emergency-vaccine-deaths are unknowable. Therefore, a reliable risk-benefit analysis is impossible to calculate. Mortality from the swine flu “pandemic” was disproportionally high for some vaccinating countries (e.g., U.S. and Britain), and disproportionally low for a non-vaccinating country (Poland)—substantially so. Therefore, pandemic vaccines may be counterproductive. Corruption and conflicts of interest occurs at the highest levels of government and the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, governments should not assume absolute authority over or during healthcare emergencies. Individual citizens MUST have the right to make their own informed decisions about vaccines and other medical protocols in declared emergencies. But this will not occur unless enough citizens unite and take appropriate action.

Likely Senate Vote On Food Safety Bill

More than ever, the NHF needs your personal support and political action in opposition to S.510, the Senate's version of the Food Safety and Modernization Act. Specifically, you can help by e-mailing your Senators and expressing your strong opposition to the Managers Amendment to S.510. As you will recall, under the semblance of improving the safety of the nation's food supply, the current Congressional leadership is using S.510/H.R.2749 to install new and enhanced expansion of FDA authorities over farms, ranches, and other food producers. The Bill especially establishes burdensome administrative requirements on small and mid-size food facilities and food suppliers. The NHF stands for and lobbies for health-freedom-of-choice principles. While the DSHEA exemption is good in terms of protecting supplements, the NHF opposes S.510 because: (1) it is absolutely unconstitutional; (2) its “science-based” approach tracks that f ound in Codex food guidelines and is thus a dangerous “converging” track towards the adoption of Codex standards within the U.S.; (3) it expands the arbitrary power and authority of the FDA and the Federal government in general over the American food supply. It is a recipe for disaster that will make our food supply less safe, not safer.
