The Green Police

'Is someone out behind your house digging through your trash? Don't worry, it is probably just the government. When Audi ran their now famous "Green Police" commercial during the Super Bowl last year, most Americans laughed it off and thought that nothing like that could ever happen in America. Well, it turns out that it is happening in America.

A growing number of U.S. cities are actually putting RFID tracking chips in trash cans and recycling bins and are starting to fine residents who do not recycle "properly". This kind of thing has been going on over in the U.K. for some time now, but very few people expected those living in "the land of the free" to be subjected to RFID trash tracking so quickly. But it is here.'

US Bank Profits Back to Pre-Crisis Heights

'US bank profits returned to their pre-crisis heights in the second quarter of this year, according to a report released Tuesday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the regulatory agency that insures consumer deposits at commercial banks.

Profits reported by the 7,830 banks overseen by the FDIC totaled $21.6 billion for the three months to June, compared to a $4.4 billion loss in the second quarter of 2009. It was the banks’ highest quarterly profit since the third quarter of 2007, when the subprime mortgage market began to collapse.

The profit surge went disproportionately to the nation’s big banks, which have been the main beneficiaries of the bailout policies of the Bush and Obama administrations. The same FDIC survey reported a further increase in the number of failed banks and those at risk of failing, overwhelmingly from among small and mid-sized banks.'

NATO Eyes Missile System in Europe

'NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has proposed to develop a US-backed missile system around the Europe with Russia's cooperation.

Rasmussen said that it would be necessary to ensure Russia's cooperation in the 200-million-euro ($253 million) project, because "we would have a NATO system alongside a Russian system," the Telegraph reported.

The NATO chief named Iran's nuclear program as one the reasons that justify the necessity for a missile system, saying, "If Iran eventually acquires a nuclear capability that will be very dangerous, and a direct threat to the allies".'

Prince of Wales Spreads Eco-Loon Gspel on Hs Amazing, Biofuel-Powered Crazy Train

'The Prince of Wales – who also happens to be our future monarch, unfortunately – has embarked on an eco-tour of Britain. He is urging us not to throw away any of the £4,000 bespoke Huntsman suits we might have mouldering in the back of our wardrobes, demonstrating how easy it is to fashion a handy Gladstone bag from one’s old hunting boots or an egg whisk from one’s unwanted tiaras, and reminding us that unless we convert our Aston Martins to biofuels by the end of next week (just like he has done) then the polar ice caps will most assuredly melt and we’ll all die.

Needless to say, he has found the perfect means of transport by which to convey this important message: a huge train powered by possibly the most ecologically disastrous fuel source yet devised by mankind. Biofuel.'
