Special Dispatch|3283 |October 8, 2010 Women's Topics/ Europe and the Arab and Muslim World The Issue of the Veil: Following France's Approval of Veil Ban, Reports From the MEMRI and MEMRI TV Archives On October 7, 2010, France's constitutional court approved a law banning the wearing of the full veil, i.e. the niqab and burqa, in public. Anyone wearing the full veil is to be fined €150, while anyone found guilty of forcing a woman to wear it will face a fine of €30,000 and a one-year prison term.[1] The following reports on the issue of the veil are from the MEMRI and MEMRI TV archives.
