Vanessa Feltz to keep phone-in show after Radio 2 move
Presenter will continue in her BBC London 94.9 slot alongside new early breakfast role
Vanessa Feltz is set to retain her morning phone-in show on BBCLondon 94.9 when she begins presenting the early breakfast slot on BBC Radio 2.
Feltz is being lined up by Radio 2 controller Bob Shennan to take over the 5am slot vacated by Sarah Kennedy earlier this year.
The move put a question mark against her future at London 94.9, where she has presented since 2003, winning a Sony gold award last year forspeech broadcaster of the year.
But Feltz will continue to present the London morning show alongside her new Radio 2 show, which is likely to require a 3am start. After completing her Radio 2 shift at 6.30am, Feltz will then head to the nearby London 94.9 studio in central London for her 9am to midday show on the station.
Radio 2 is expected to confirm the appointment later this week, with Feltz set to join the station at the beginning of 2011.
Feltz will also present a new daily show on Channel 5, beginning in January next year, which will be pre-recorded in the afternoons.
If the Radio 2 deal comes off Feltz will have another prize to put alongside her Sony – that of hardest-working woman in broadcasting.
The last Radio 2 DJ to present a morning show on Channel 5 was Sir Terry Wogan with the ill-fated Terry and Gaby Show, produced by incumbent Radio 2 breakfast host, Chris Evans.
