In March, Computer Weekly reported on legal concerns that census information could be shared with police or intelligence services under exemptions outlined in section 39, part four of the Act (see below). But according to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, the ONS did not seek any formal legal advice regarding the impact of the SRA on census information.' Deprive people of enough empowering truths while giving the illusion of an essential central control system and you'll have the masses in your back pocket. But we're on to them, and the Word is spreading fast. And Truth is powerful in many dimensions, many beyond the reach of would-be controllers. That's empowering.' In May alone, almost €5bn (£4.4bn) was pulled out of Greek deposits, as part of what analysts describe as a "silent bank run". This version is also disorderly and jittery, just not as obvious. Customers do not form long queues outside branches, they simply squirrel out as much as they can. Some of that money will have been used to pay debts or supplement incomes, of course, but bankers put the sheer volume of withdrawals down to a general fear about the outlook for Greece, one that runs all the way from the humble rainy-day saver to the really big money.' According to The Weekly Standard, Republican sources have confirmed that the likes of Rand Paul, Jim DeMint and other fiscal conservatives will be dismissed as choices for the new super committee partly as a punishment for their failure to back the debt hike and most importantly to prevent any obstacles to the committee passing tax hikes and entitlement cuts.' The Archive today posted volume 2, "Participation in the Conduct of Foreign Policy" (Part 1 | Part 2), classified top secret, which contains detailed information on the CIA's negotiations with Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Panama on support for the invasion. "These are among the last remaining secret records of this act of U.S. aggression against Cuba," noted Peter Kornbluh, who directs the Cuba Documentation Project at the Archive. "The CIA has finally seen the wisdom of letting the public scrutinize this major debacle in the covert history of U.S. foreign policy." Kornbluh noted that the agency was "still refusing to release volume 5 of its official history." Volume 5 is a rebuttal to the stinging CIA's Inspector General's report, done in the immediate aftermath of the paramilitary assault, which held CIA officials accountable for a wide variety of mistakes, miscalculations and deceptions that characterized the failed invasion. The National Security Archive obtained the declassification of the ultra-secret Inspector General's report in 1998.' "The squabbling between the two [American] political parties on raising the US debt ceiling reflected an irreversible trend on the United States' declining ability to repay its debts," the chairman of the Chinese credit ratings agency, Guan Jianzhong, said.
"The two parties acted in a very irresponsible way and their actions greatly exposed the negative impact of the US political system on its economic fundamentals," he added.'
Tuesday was the eighth straight day down for the US markets, the longest losing streak since October 2008.'
