It's Wam Bam Thank You Cam as the Tories award a peerage to Anthony Bamford, the JCB chairman who has donated over £2.5 million to the party. The LibDems have a considerably disproportionate number of new peers, particularly ironic given their position on Lords reform. Clegg advising lobbyist Olly Grender joins the Lords, while Rumi Verjee and James Palumbo, major party donors, are also made peers. As is Lord Rennard's 'niece'. Labour award peerages to donor Willie Haughey and Goldman Sachs adviser Charles Allen. The Coalition breaking its pledge on creating more Lords allows Nigel Farage to position himself as anti-sleaze and anti-establishment. Another Number 10 strategy success...
